Dr. Margaret Howard, Ph.D is a Clinical Psychologist and a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior and Medicine at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She completed her undergraduate degree at Western Washington University, her PhD at Southern Illinois University, and her internship and Postdoctoral Fellowship at Brown University. Dr. Howard and her team established the nation’s first Mother-Baby Perinatal Psychiatric Partial Hospital at Women & Infants Hospital in Providence, RI. For over 2 decades, she has focused exclusively on the treatment of perinatal women and has extensive experience in the implementation of psychiatric outpatient and partial hospital specialty programs focusing on women’s mental health. Dr. Howard has published, consulted, and lectured nationally and internationally. She has been featured in many popular media settings and has received national awards recognizing her unique contribution to the field of perinatal mental health. Dr. Howard has served as Co-Principal Investigator and Consultant on numerous grants related to perinatal mental health. She values education, research, training, and advocacy efforts promoting collaborative care and establishing dedicated perinatal mental health programs.
