Continuing Education Training
Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs) are the number one complication associated with childbirth and one of the leading causes of maternal death in this country. With 1 in 5 new and expecting mothers/birthing people experiencing a PMAD and 80% of all cases going undetected and untreated, there is a dire need for more social workers and psychologists to be aware of these conditions. PMADs are distinctive illnesses that occur during pregnancy and postpartum, thus requiring a specific understanding of symptoms, evaluation, screening, resources, and treatment interventions.
We hope that attendees will walk away with the ability to better recognize a new or expecting mother/birthing person who may be struggling with a PMAD and how to connect them to appropriate care.
